Clinical Fellowships
Now accepting 2010-2011 fellowship applications!
Paparella Ear Head & Neck Institute, in association with the International Hearing Foundation (IHF), sponsors Clinical Fellows to study in the operating rooms and with the staff of the Paparella Ear Head & Neck Institute. We also have opportunities to participate in research in the Otopathology Laboratory at the University of Minnesota and its related laboratories.
Paparella Ear Head & Neck Institute is a tertiary center for referrals from otolaryngologists in Minnesota and from many other states. Its research and publishing facilities offer unique opportunities to provide cutting edge concepts. Clinical Fellows have an opportunity to complete research and clinical or basic science during their year of fellowship. Our clinic and operating rooms provide hands on experience including introduction to innovative techniques. Affiliation with the International Hearing Foundation housed in the same facility, offers further broad experience in the charitable realm.
Paparella Ear Head & Neck Institute, a private practice group in otology, neurotology and related head and neck areas, has an extensive state of the art facility in Riverside Park Plaza which is connected to Fairview Riverside University Medical Center. The International Hearing Foundation maintains its laboratory for dissection of temporal bones on the University of Minnesota campus; however its office is housed at the Riverside Park Plaza Building.
Clinical experience is available on a daily basis working side by side with the physicians of the Paparella Ear Head & Neck Institute. Participation in teams performing cochlear implants; observing and participating in a wide gamut of otologic and neurotological cases in the clinic, and observing and participating in procedures in the operating room under the distinguished staff of the clinic, are all worthwhile learning experiences for the Fellows. The staff, otologic and related ear, nose and throat care, and audiology and support systems are top notch.
Excellent patient care is the highest priority of Paparella Ear Head & Neck Institute and Fellows who are fully trained otolaryngologists have the opportunity to observe, participate and assist in the care of these patients both in the clinic and in the hospital. A large variety of interesting problems and difficult cases are treated routinely providing for a wealth of experience to benefit the Fellow in future years and in his/her future career.
