WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER TONSILLECTOMY / ADENOIDECTOMY

It is normal to see patches of white around the surgery site. Bad breath, redness and swelling are also not uncommon for up to 2 weeks after surgery. The uvula, which hangs in the back of the throat, can also occasionally become swollen. It is normal for pain to increase after the first few days following surgery.

CONTACT OUR OFFICE IMMEDIATELY IF YOU EXPERIENCE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS:

  • Moderate to severe bleeding from surgery site
  • Inability to retain liquids
  • Fever of 101 degrees or higher
